Open Your Heart and Home: A Path to Deeper Connections
September 16, 2024
By Becky Harling
God's vision for us is community. He designed s in His image to connect with Him and others. We need fris who share life’s joys. However, recent studies indicate unprecedented levels of loneliness.
How can we rediscover joy in deep relationships within our digital age?
Hospitality offers a practical solutionhosting others without worrying about perfection. Let me share my story: as a child, I relished my summer stays with my grandmother in New York City. The highlight was her afternoon ritual with fri Isabellea cup of coffee and a slice of cake.
God’s wisdom instructs us to offer hospitality to one another with no complnt 1 Peter 4:9. Early Christians met dly for prayer and meals. This fellowship wasn’t just about regular gatherings; it was an intentional space where the community could connect.
In our busy, digital world, we need to revive this practice of welcoming others into our lives:
Instead of coffee shops, host fris at your home for coffee or teacreate a cozy environment for authentic conversations and focused prayer.
Throw a “charcuterie and conversation” event for close fris. Keep things simple with snacks and pre-planned discussion starters that encourage engagement over elaborate meals.
The Bible also encourages us to love our neighbors Luke 19:37, yet we often forget this connection as dly routines consume our time. So, why not invite your neighbors over for a grill and greet?
Ladies, consider welcoming others into your home with an open heart. You might ease loneliness in your own life and bring peace to those who walk through your door.
Lord God, you teach us that hospitality should be shared without hesitation or complnt. Forgive me when I grumble at the thought of hosting. Instead, fill my spirit with warmth so that others may find a home away from home within our community. In Jesus' name, Amen.

DEEPER STUDY RESOURCES
Acts 2:46 highlights how believers met together dly in temple courtyards, breaking bread and sharing with glad hearts. How might hosting fris over for meals or snacks open up opportunities for deeper connections?
What has prevented you from inviting people into your home? Can you find a way to overcome these hesitations?
